Drawing.
This week was Week 4 of my project, and I feel like I made some good progress. I spent a lot of time drawing frames for my short film and animating them. It was a lot of work, and there were some things that I didn't like at all, but I'm mostly happy with the way they turned out. Even the things I didn't end up liking came in handy for my experimentation.
I also designed some new characters, which was a lot of fun. One of them is just referred to as 'Zombie 1' in my script, and the other three only appear briefly on screen to represent the fact that Jaxon doesn't feel as if he fits in. I'm excited to see how they all look in the final product.

After drawing and animating more frames, I added some of the finished ones to my animatic draft. I also tried my hand at creating a title sequence, but I wasn't completely satisfied with how it turned out. Despite this, I decided to post the draft on my website to show what I experimented with.
Taking Photos - Research.
Something else I did this week was for my research, I went out and took some more photos. I took photos of some local graveyards to get references for my work and also inspiration. This ended up working out really well and I used the photographs to improve my drawings and my understanding. Something I think I could have done to improve was to take photos from more angles and perspectives.
I tried to capture the many different and unique shapes of
the headstones and took note of the shape and form of the
ground, I found that graveyards are often quite hilly and sometimes headstones are broken or faded. I found that often they are quite crowded with both headstones and foliage.

Here are a couple of examples of my photographs:

Overall.
Overall, I'm pleased with the progress I made this week. I tried some new things, and even though not everything worked out perfectly, I kept working at my ideas until I liked the result. I'm very pleased with how much I completed and moving forward I plan to create more drawings and frames and then eventually get to the point where I can record the speech for my characters and start editing more.
