THE STORY

A SUMMARY

I have decided to create a short 2D animated first part/episode for a story that I have created from scratch.

The story is centred around a character named Jaxon. It is overall about Jaxon navigating his way through his tough new situation. The idea is that Jaxon has passed away and has now become a zombie. As many will know from media and pop culture, zombies are not usually the nicest of creatures and have trouble experiencing any type of empathy for.. well.. anything or anyone at all. Jaxon is different though, he feels sick at the thought of being anything like other the zombies he has met and finds that he doesn't have it in him to become some sort of mindless killing machine.

In this imaginary world, the rules in the zombie community are that when you become a zombie, you must contribute to a kind of 'Hive' situation -  meaning you must harvest brains from live people and bring them back to the Graveyard so that all of the zombies can feast. If Jaxon does not do his part in this there will be trouble. This 'trouble' involves a concept known as 'PermaDeath' which is essentially permanent death. Jaxon does not want this, therefore, he finds himself in a bit of a predicament.

The first episode - what I am hoping to create by the deadline - will consist of Jaxon's death in the form of drowning and then the result of that. Afterwards, Jaxon will rise from his grave and encounter a mysterious figure - referred to in my script as 'Zombie 1'. The overall concept and 'rules' I have just discussed will be explained to Jaxon by Zombie 1 and it is then clear to Jaxon upon meeting him that he isn't the biggest fan of his new life.

MY VIDEO PRESENTATION

PITCH EVALUATION

As the final product is still being developed at this stage of pitching, I was asked to give a presentation outlining the work I have already completed, mainly just outlining what I will be creating. I was also asked to discuss the research, idea development, and experimentation phases of my project. In Garageband, I recorded my voice for my presentation, made some edits, and then edited the presentation over my voice. I did this in order for me to be able to express my clear thoughts on what I wanted to say and to be able to upload the presentation itself to the website with my talking over it.

Overall, I think that the physical act of showing the presentation went well, it definitely went much better than I thought as I was very nervous for it to begin with. I feel as if my audience took it well and understood everything quite well. I made an effort to speak in a calm and understandable manner. Due to the fact that my audience was made up of classmates my age, I made a few small jokes here and there in an effort to be relatable, but I tried to sound as passionate and composed as I would with a general, universal audience, as possible. Something I think could be improved on though, is my confidence in my project. Confidence is something I have always struggled with especially when it comes to my work, I feel that if I were to progress in this industry I would need to gain more confidence as I think that from watching other people's pitches confidence or people that act as if they're confident in what they've done even if they may be nervous is something that really catches the attention of listeners, it makes them sound believable in what they are saying about their project.

I know in myself that I have worked extremely hard on this project and I know that even though I often struggle to feel proud of the things that I do, I am very proud of my hard work and I need to work on sounding proud of what I have done.

Below is some feedback I got from others about my pitch.
